Laila Danielsen is a serial entrepreneur and an experienced tech executive with a career successfully bringing emerging technologies to market with expertise in enterprise software and technology at both Fortune 500 companies and Silicon Valley start-ups. Due to her exceptional leadership skills and strong customer-orientation, Ms. Danielsen has a long history of success in bringing technology to market and building focused teams, including FastScale Technology Inc. (acquired by EMC/VMware), Scali (acquired by Platform Computing), and HotLink Corportion. She has also held management roles at IBM, Penguin Computing and other companies. Danielsen shares her expertise as an advisor to ascending companies. She is a speaker at top MBA programs and an advisor for Innovation Norway. She was awarded an MS at the Norwegian School of Economics and a BA at University of San Francisco.
Senior VP of Technology
Dr. Holger Hussmann is an enthusiastic tech and business leader with a background from top tier mobile and SW industries. He worked in various leadership positions in Nokia and Telenor where he successfully turned ideas into mass market products. In the late 90s he was instrumental to invent the Bluetooth wireless technology. He was elected as Vice Chairman of the Bluetooth SIG Board of Directors and with his engagement and strategic directions, he helped to grow the world wide adoption of the de-facto standard. In his function as Head of Operations of Nokia´s Chipset Development Unit, he gained detailed experience with the technologies used in modern mobile devices. His assignment with Telenor allowed him to work with mobile devices and internet services and he created a new mobile app which could acquire more than 2 million monthly active users in its first year. Dr. Hussmann holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Aachen University of Technology, Germany.
VP of Product Development
Guenael Strutt is an experienced tech leader, having spent over 16 years in product development, system integration and user experience design for both Fortune 500 companies and tech start-ups. With over 40 wireless communication and handheld device interaction patents, his robust vision for technology products has resulted in the delivery of compelling mobile solutions. Before joining Elliptic Labs, Strutt served as Software Development Manager at Lab126/Amazon, leading a team in designing and prototyping new user experiences for portable devices. Strutt graduated with a diplôme d’ingénieur from the University of Technology of Compiègne, France, an MS from Florida Atlantic University, and an MBA from Rollins College.
VP of Engineering
Espen Klovning brings more than 16 years of engineering proficiency to his position of VP of Engineering at Elliptic Labs. His management experience includes executive positions in technology companies and repeatedly building successful and highly performing engineering teams. Previously, he was director of engineering at Cisco Systems, worked for Tandberg and was VP, R&D at Birdstep Technology. In 1998, he founded Advanced Communications Technology, drawing on his extensive engineering knowledge. Earlier in his career he was a research scientist for Telenor. He is author of several Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) RFCs and has written over ten scientific papers on communications protocols. Klovning holds several patents in wireless communication and mobility.
Dr. Tom Kavli is an accomplished strategic collaborative technology leader with extensive experience in developing and implementing innovative technologies. He has exceptional background and deep knowledge in physics, image processing, sensor technologies (ultrasound and optics), digital signal processing, real-time implementations, optimization, tuning, machine learning, and rapid development. With over 25 years of experience in these fields, Kavli is renowned as one of Norway’s most respected scientists.
Thor A. Talhaug
Thor André Talhaug has extensive experience covering private and public placements of primary and secondary shares to IPOs, mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Elliptic Labs, Thor worked at Deloitte & Touche, and at Enskilda Securities where he was a director and partner in the corporate finance department with specific focus on the telecom and technology sectors. Talhaug also was a partner at Nunatak. He received a Master of Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. He also has earned a state-authorized public accountant and authorized financial analyst credential.
Elliptic Labs is a privately held company with offices in San Francisco, California; Shanghai, China; and Oslo, Norway. Started in 2006 as a spinoff from the signal processing environment at the University of Oslo, Elliptic Labs grew from our initial research background in echo-management systems for multi-antenna mobile communication.Elliptic Labs’s ultrasonic technology provides 3D touchless gesturing for consumer devices, creating more intuitive ways for users to navigate content and access information, while making devices more beautiful. The technology can be integrated in a mobile devices and IoT appliances. Ultrasound offers the best combination of high resolution, 180-degreee interaction space and lower power consumption compared to camera and other sensing technologies. Elliptic Labs uses ultra-low-power processors for ultrasound processing from companies such as Cirrus Logic, Qualcomm, and MediaTek.
