About

Elliptic Labs is a privately held company with offices in Palo Alto, California, and Oslo, Norway. Started in 2006 as a spinoff from the signal processing environment at the University of Oslo, Elliptic Labs grew from our initial research background in echo-management systems for multi-antenna mobile communication. Elliptic Labs is on a mission to deliver robust natural touchless gesturing that is adaptive to the human style of interaction. We are accomplishing this by enabling ultrasonic touchless gesturing for all PCs, tablets and smartphones to be used anywhere-anytime!

History & Background

Elliptic Laboratories was founded in Oslo, at the centre of the Norwegian ultrasonics cluster. For decades, Norwegian companies within the ultrasound research community have excelled in using ultrasound for immersion, medical and seismic application. The historical reasons for this are obvious – with a long coastline and petroleum resources, high-tech development has secured both better exploitation and new discoveries. Needs relating to the off-shore industry, such as ship-to-ship communication links, has spurred several startups and technology ventures, many of which are now market leaders in their respective business areas. From its central location, Elliptic Labs shares interests with, and can learn from, some of the best players in the ultrasonic world. Since our products are focused towards consumer electronics, we have established ourselves in Palo Alto, California.
